The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Wonderful time? How about the busiest time of year. I have been going non-stop for the past two weeks and there is no end in sight to it calming down. I just can't seem to figure out how the time goes by so quickly and I find myself so ill prepared for all the events and things that are so quickly filling our calendar. On Thursday I had to take a 90 minute lunch (I had taken a 30 minute lunch earlier in the week). I thought great I can do a bit of shopping and grab a bite to eat and won't be rushed. Well I went to Kohls found what I was looking for, had a bit of a browse and headed to my next stop. Went straight in grabbed what I needed and headed to the checkout. As I was leaving the store I glanced at the clock and saw I had 10 minutes left for the drive back across town to work. Dang it I hadn't eaten and I didn't have time to stop. How could the time have slipped by so quick.
Sometimes I feel as I get older I must be moving in slow motion as time just seems to pass by at a faster pace than it seems I am living. I used to get up have breakfast and coffee, get dressed and be ready and out the door in 30-40 minutes. I find now I must allow twice that time to get ready. Weekends, oh I remember them. Lately though they are over in a flash. I rarely get through my to-do list and I seem to only fall further behind on things that need attention around here. The house gradually becomes more cluttered and crowded as things get stacked up rather than put up. Minor repairs wait until they become major repairs. Recent example - the handle on the oven door was loose, I know how to fix it, it's just that the oven has to be cool to do it. I would only think to do it while I was baking. Well I waited too long and the handle came off. It still took me over a week to get it fixed, and you know what???? It only took 5 minutes to do.
I must say proudly though that I am nearly completely done with my Christmas shopping. All I can say is thank God for the internet and Amazon. I have also managed to wrap nearly everything as it was delivered. My bedroom is a disaster though, filled with presents and giftwrap, boxes and bags. The inside and out are decorated. Tree, lights, Santa's, Nativity. The outside of the house looks lovely this year as I decorated the window boxes in a lovely traditional way with garlands of pine and red bows. The multi color lights are strung across the front of the house and woven through the hedge. Our retro Santa face is hanging proudly on the front of the house and the wreath has been freshened up and hangs on the door.
Christmas will be here well before I am ready. But I'm sure it will be fun and memorable of that I have no doubt. Sorry to be so long between posts, but I can't promise I will do any better anytime soon.
Hope everyone enjoys this Holiday season.
