BEST CHRISTMAS EVER

Abate had opened one gift when he proclaimed this to be the “BEST CHRISTMAS EVER”! Fantuwas equally excited about her present – the same as Abate's but she just looked at him – really? You've just opend the one gift. Would it take more than those Kindle Fires to impress her? Well after a a furry soft throw and pillow, leather (pleather) jacket, a purple sweater, jeans, makeup, American Eagle top, tee-shirt, penguin socks and boots – yeah she was convinced – BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!

Watching Abate open presents is such a joy, he doesn't hold any emotion back. The joy and excitement he displays could bring a smile to ol' Scrooge. The jeans the sweater, the X-box games and more had him shouting out excitement as each was revealed. Fantu even let a few burst of excitement fly during the all too quick moments that make all the months of preparations worthwhile.

So, what about those Amazon Kindle Fires they got. Fantu is glued to hers. She watches one movie after another on Netflix. She plays the odd game now and again and checks up on her Facebook friends, but the Movies are what that girl just loves. In fact she's watching a comedy right now and laughing out loud every few minutes. Abate spends quite a bit of time on his. He is all about the game aps though and music. He'll be plugged in to Pandorra listening to songs while playing his newest Xbox game on the telly.

Seeing them this Christmas compared to the previous two they hardly seem like the same children.
That first year when Fantu was still struggling with English nad Abate was wanting to fit in so badly at school, Christmas “American “ style was so alien to them. I'm not even sure to this day what their expectations were. We kept it small and simple that year. Alan was on the road rushing to get home by Christmas evening (not eve). We saved a few presents to open when he arrived. It was unheard of white Christmas. The kids both received new bikes which Fantu had to learn to ride. It was at times uneasy for them. New traditions that they didn't understand. New ones that Alan and I added. Last year was only slightly better. I had been out of work and had only received my second paycheck from my new job at the Convention Center. We had some catching up to do so Christmas once again was kept small. But this year, I've a year of the job behind me, a nice promotion and things have been really looking up. There is an optimism in our house that we had to share with them at Christmas. It was the “BEST CHRISTMAS EVER”!
