Cliche' - Life is a roller coaster. A bit overused but sometimes very fitting to our circumstances. Well the past week has been just that. Last Wednesday Alan was notified that it would be his last day at UPS. They had earlier been told it would be the end of the week. So by Thursday afternoon he had talked to Arnold Transport and they were thrilled to hire him back. Arnold is the company he worked for prior to joining UPS. He would start Monday - 2 day orientation in Dallas. He headed up to Dallas on Sunday afternoon. Tuesday while at orientation he got a call from UPS. His manager hadn't terminated his employment yet as she was still trying to get him transferred back to McGregor ( where he originally started with UPS)she thought that it would happen and that Chris would be in touch with him later that day. Well Chris called and said he was 99% sure that he had it approved and that Alan would start back there on Monday (2/22) He would confirm no later than Wednesday morning. Hmmmm, a dilemma - Alan is due to head out on the road Wednesday with Arnold. 2 days orientation and he quits? Well yes - just wait till UPS is 100% sure, which by 6pm he hears back and they are and he is. So Wednesday morning he quits at Arnold drives back home and waits now for Monday morning to get back to work. Why is nothing ever simple? Are we doomed to live having our lives described by silly cliche's. It certainly looks that way.
So in other news - Abate's first track meet is Monday. I think he'll be running the 2500m. I'm really looking forward to it. It's being held in Gatesville so I plan on attending. We bought his suit for him to wear this Spring - Baptism and First Communion. Wow does he look good in it. When Fantu saw him in it she said she didn't like it. What? "He looks so big, all grown up." Well yes he did - but she should look in the mirror, she is quite the young lady now. Not much else going on, thankfully. My arm is sore from holding Caleb last night. He slept in my lap for over an hour while we were at the Ash Wednesday Mass. It felt like I was holding 50 lbs. of lead weight he was so relaxed.
So hopefully this roller coaster will slow down for a spell. Somehow though I doubt it....
