4 days, 1 hour, 45 min.

I think I am nearly ready for our trip to Addis Ababa. Passports, plane tickets all ready. The kids VISA is confirmed as being sent to Embassy. Bags are nearly packed - just those last minute items. Cash is ordered and waiting to be collected at the bank. Lodging is hopefully booked. It was a real experience calling the hotel in Addis Ababa to reserve a room. It went something like this:
Hello.... hello. Hello.... hello english? Hold....music plays......Hello.....hello, I need to make a reservation...Hello. Yes I need to make a reservation for Sunday night. Music plays.... Hello..... hello. Name? Carol Hennessy c..a..r..o..l. Hello... C? yes, a..r..Hello? A? yes. r..........o........l.. Hello, hello. Hennessy, h.......e......n.....N?, yes..... and so on. Collect from airport? flight? Hello...hello.. and so on again. Then a "thank you" and click. So I am hoping we have a reservation and transportation from the airport to the Adot Tina hotel. We are hopefully set then to stay Sunday night at the hotel and then the rest of the week at Kidane Merehet (guesthouse at orphanage). Getting very excited! We won't get to meet the kids till Monday, probably be afternoon after they get in from school. That should give us a bit to get settled in.
Wow, 4 days, 1 hour and 15 minutes till our plane departs Austin!
