Abate spent the week she was gone recovering from having 3 teeth pulled on Tuesday. He did great and never needed anything for the pain afterwards. He just ate lots of ice cream for a few days. This week he has soccer camp at the school from 8-12 so he will be busy for part of the day. Last night to get him ready for camp I first combed out his hair. He has quite the fluffy afro now. Then Fantu braided it into really nice rows. That took most of the evening, but it looks really good. His hair is getting really long and thick. When he leaves it natural he is starting to get some nice spiral curls.
Next week they are both off to Music Camp in Kerrville. I recently bought them a Djembe Drum and Abate has taken to it quite well. I hope that Fantu will get the chance to work on her song writing while there. She has recently starting writing songs in English. It is a bit more challenging for her to do that. Most of her tunes though have a Ethiopian feel to the melody. She of course loves to sing her own stuff and is starting to think of having me film music videos. We did do one but is was just for Carrie for her birthday. I think they will really enjoy Music Camp as they camp out in tents, go on a canoe trip, and get to perform at the end of the week.
As July winds down Abate will have 1 week of football camp and he also gets his braces on his teeth. August will hopefully bring a trip to Houston and Galveston and then of course it's time to get ready to go Back-to-School. Two kids in Junior High and Caleb starts pre-K. Wednesdays just won't be the same with my little guy in school.
