Cheers to the Irishman!

The Irishman had a birthday and the new family had so much fun planning, decorating and celebrating! Abate and Fantu really got into it. Abate blew up a dozen balloons, we put up streamers and a banner. Confetti on the table (it is now all over the house). Fantu and I baked and decorated a cake. Decorating cakes is not one of my many talents, but we had fun and it was very tasty! Alan and Abate went and played a round of golf while Fantu and I stayed home and cooked and baked. We made a Ethiopian meal - Doro Wat (spicy chicken stew) Miser Wat (spicy red lentils) Gomen (collard greens, except I couldn't find any so I had to use turnip greens) and of course Injera (Ethiopian flatbread). Carrie, James and Caleb joined us for the evening. Caleb kept telling Alan "Happy Birthday". He then said he'd sing it for him in a minute but he was too busy eating. After dinner Fantu did an Ethiopian dance and the she sang (Abate did join in) a Ethiopian song. Such a beautiful voice. Abate did his balancing act - this time with a golf club. We then watched Watership Down - one of Alan's favorite films.
Alan and Abate had alot of fun playing golf. Alan managed to win this round but I don't think he will be beating him much longer! Abate really enjoyed playing and shows real promise. Alan was really impressed as this was the first time Abate had played. Watch out Tiger!
Well school starts on Monday and we are all getting nervous. We go Friday to get Abate's schedule and hopefully get a tour of the school. We will also go to Fantu's school and meet her teachers. The weekend has lots of shopping planned, new clothes, shoes and school supplies. Should be exciting and fun!
Pictures are from the weekend, enjoy! Fantu took quite a few of them.
