Fun night last night as an unexpected storm blew in around 9pm. Lightening, high winds and heavy rain are normal for this time of year, but we didn't have a chance of storms last night. The tv news kept coming on tracking this storm as it moved up from Lampasas County but the direction it was moving put it going south of town. Well the lightening was putting on quite the show so I sat out on the porch watching it (by this time our tv's satelite signal was knocked out). Next thing I know I hear the ping-ping of little hail stones on the neighbors metal roof. In seconds the wind lets loose and hail stones are crashing down and into the house at a angle. Luckily they never got any larger then nickle to quarter size so no damage to the cars or the house. The noise was something else and it woke Alan. He didn't know what was going on. If it's something you've never experienced just think of the sound of someone throwing a rock against your car or house and multiply by 100's of them being thrown at once. Could'nt get the full extent of any damage til this morning, my trees, flowers and tomatos took quite the beating snapping many stems and in a few cases the whole plant off. Tree limbs are down and leaves cover everything. Damage was really bad in town with whole trees coming down and apparently quite a bit of damage around the courthouse. Power was out off and on through the night as crews worked to repair the lines knocked down. I tried taking a few pictures of what it looks like around here this morning, but they really don't show it well. We've got a mess to clean up today.
